Interdisciplinary project: Cybernetics (English/Biology)

This report deals with a simple robot designed for the use on Mars, which was built in a number English and Biology lessons with our teachers Ms. Bogner and Mrs. Gruber.

Introduction

On May 27 our class, 4ak, began with the project. It lasted until 10 June and took a total of six hours.

First of all we started learning the theory about robots and we discussed which robot we should build. Many of us wanted special robots for the class and even more wanted a robot for the planet Mars. Accordingly, we decided to build a robot with the help of Lego Mindstorms. We split into four groups and every group had to build a part of the project, for example a satellite. After we finished building the robots and satellites, we started to open the map, where we had to place the robot. From there it was able to move and to push and activate the satellite. Then it moved back, where it was placed at first. Of course we didn’t forget to take many photos and even recorded some videos of our successful work and idea.

The aim of the project

Our robot should be environmentally friendly and do something useful. We want to show others that our school is creative and that we have the chance to do interdisciplinary projects. Of course we also did it for us and because we wanted to try out new exciting things! Who else can say they built robots in school?
